Creamy Yummy Hot Chocolate without Harmful Ingredients

One thing I can’t live without is chocolate, especially hot chocolate.

But hot chocolate powder tends to be highly sugary, so I don’t buy it any more.

I make my own hot chocolate these days. It’s very simple. And it has none of the suspicious sounding ingredients such as partially invented (sorry, inverted) sugar syrup.

So, here is my simple recipe for creamy hot chocolate.

Ingredients

• 2 teaspoons of raw cocoa powder
• 1 mug of organic whole milk
• 1 teaspoon of raw honey

Method

Put the milk in a pan. Add the cocoa powder. Heat it until it’s boiling, stirring continuously to mix in the cocoa powder. Stirring while the milk is heating up will prevent the cocoa from forming those lumps that annoyingly spill their bitter guts all over your tongue.

Pour the milk into a mug. Add honey. And you’re done!

Extra Tips

• For extra creamy hot chocolate, add some cream. But don’t do it too often.
• If you like a bit of spiciness, add half a teaspoon of ground ginger.

Now, About The Milk …

I use organic full fat cow’s milk from an organic full fat cow. Not the healthiest choice, I know. But if you’re lucky enough to find raw unpasteurized cow’s milk, that’d be better.

Failing that, you can use full fat goat’s milk. Goat’s milk is reputed to be healthier than cow’s milk, although the goats might not agree.

I haven’t seen any difference myself though. My body reacts the same way to both cow’s milk and goat’s milk. And I like the taste of cow’s milk better.

So, as you’ve probably guessed, I’m sticking with cow’s milk.

I don’t bother with the skimmed or semi-skimmed kind. I’m not convinced they’re any healthier. And they taste awful. Far too watery.

So, go on. Treat yourself. Stretch out on the sofa, rumble out a purr or two, and sip that hot chocolate.

You’ll feel happiness radiating right through your body. Yumm …
